How to get to Senkin Shuzo（泉金酒造への行き方）
Senkin Shuzo is located in the town of Iwaizumi (Iwa means rock, izumi means spring), in the northern part of Iwate Prefecture.
Although JR train service is not available here, unfortunately, it's worth visiting here to discover a new aspect of Japan.
"The town of Iwaizumi also offers a heartful experience and wonderful views of natural settings, such as the Ryusendo Cave.
You'll enjoy your stay and feel relaxed.
There's nothing to fear for transferring from Morioka Station!
新幹線を降りて、バスに乗り換え、揺られて２時間。龍泉洞のある岩泉町中心部に着きます。どうぞ車窓の景色を眺めながらお越しください。
まずは、盛岡駅での乗り換えです。
At Morioka Station
1. When you get off the Shinkansen,
Walk down stairs (or by escalator) towards the exit. Follow the sign "North Ticket Gate"
新幹線ホームを降りられましたら、北口改札へ向かいます。
This is the North Exit(Ticket Gate). You can see the sign "East Bus Station".
Walk straight, you will be in front of "FES"AN" department store.
こちらが北改札口です。小さく「東口バスのりば方面」と書いてあります。
まっすぐと歩いていくと、駅ビルフェザンの前に着きます。
You are in front of the FES"AN department store.
2. How to pay the fare
You pay the fare only on the bus,when you get off.
By cash or Suica(e-money card), when you get off the bus.
By Suica: simply touch the Suica card to the reader, when you get on the bus.
When you get off the bus, touch the Suica card again, then the fare is automatically calculated and deducted.
If you have THE JR EAST PASS(Tohoku area), it covers the fare from Morioka to Iwaizumi. Just show the pass to the driver.

3. Things to do before you ride on the bus
- Tip 1
Toilet is not available on board. So if you want to go to the toilet…
The toilet is on the opposite side of the ticket counter.
Red is for ladies, Blue is for men, Green is for accessible, mother-and -baby, and special-needs.
There will not be a toilet break between Morioka and Mitakaibunko. (in 1.5 hours) - Tip 2
It would be nice to take some food or drinks just in case for emergency, as there's no food/drink service on board.
(Please avoid strong smelling foods to not make other passengers uncomfortable.) - Tip 3
Are you ok with your motion sickness? Sitting in the front seat, or not reading a book during the trip, or medication will help.
バスに乗る前に確認しておいた方がよい３つのこと。
- バスにはトイレがありません。トイレ休憩は１時間半ほど乗った「道の駅三田貝分校」です。盛岡駅の切符売り場で切符を買ったあと、後ろを振り向くと、そこにはトイレがあります。男性用、女性用、多目的トイレがありますので、念のため。
- 天候の急変やバスが途中停止したときのために、ちょっとした非常食や飲み物を持っていたほうが良いかもしれません。途中、食料を買えるお店がありませんので。
- 車酔い対策は大丈夫ですか？なるべく前方の席にすわることをおすすめします。あらかじめ酔い止め薬をのむことも大事でしょう。また、車のなかで本を読むのは控えた方がよいでしょう。携帯の電波の届かないところが多くあります。
4. Find the bus stop
The elevator is on the opposite side of the stairs.
Press [1] to go to the ground level, turn right and exit the building.
Go downstairs.
階段とは反対側にエレベーターがあります。
１階に降りて、右にまがり、建物を出たところにバス停があります。
Then you can find the No.1 Bus Stop in front of you.
Just wait for the bus. (As Japanese do, wait for the bus in line, quietly. Show your respect for the Japanese line culture, please.)
Some buses have a picture of Ryusendo-Cave.

5. On board
Please fasten your seatbelt for your security.
If you don't, the risk of losing your life is 9times higher on a superhighway, and 14 times higher on local roads.
Please keep aisles and exits clear.
バスに乗車したら・・・
シートベルトを締めましょう。
「シートベルトを着用しないと、高速道路で約９倍、一般道路を含めると約１４倍、命の危険性が高まります！！」と書いてあります。
バスは前からのり、運転手さんに料金を支払って降ります。
Fare board
In case you don't have a ticket, take the white paper slip from the machine when you get on the bus. The number on the paper shows the number of the bus stop that you got on. Then look at your number on the fare board. The fare for your ride is underneath the number.
Push this button to notify the bus driver prior to your desired bus stop.
6.All aboard!
When the bus crosses the bridge 👀 "Kaiun-bashi", if you're lucky, you can see the wonderful view of 👀 Mt. Iwate at the left side of the window.

開運橋を渡る際、ぜひ左手をご覧ください。
お天気が良ければ、岩手のシンボル「岩手山」の雄大な姿が見えます。

Morioka-jo-ato-koen（盛岡城跡公園）

At the second crossing after the Castle, please look at the right side. There is an old cherry tree that splits a stone.
It is one of the tourist attractions in Morioka.

「石割桜」
「盛岡城跡公園」のバス停を過ぎて２つ目の交差点の右側、盛岡地方裁判所の前庭に「石割桜」があります。
バスが交差点を横断中にちらっと見えます。

Kitayama（北山）
Temple area
Since feudal era, many temples have been moved on the north outskirts of the town. This kind of urban planning is typical for an old castle town.
北山寺院群：南部藩制時代に領内の寺が北山地区に集められました。五百羅漢で有名な法恩寺、鬼の手形がある三ツ石神社はこの界隈にあります。
Iwate ken-ei Yakyu-jo（県営野球場前）
Iwate Ball Park
At your lefthand side, you can see the Iwate Ball Park. Then, the bus will go up a hill.
岩手県営野球場が左手に見えたら、上り坂になります。
Karato-Ishi（櫃石）
At the top, you will see Mt.Iwate again on a clear day, and in front of you, hopefully, recognize a little mountain with a cute pyramid-shaped summit 👀 "Hime-kami-san(Princess-god-mountain)".
But an old folktale tells us her sad story behind her pretty shape.
登り切った左手に、天気の良い日なら岩手山を拝めることでしょう。
また、正面にはこじんまりとした三角の頂がちらっと見えます。お気づきになれば幸いですが「姫神山」という山です。
この山には、楚々とした頂の姿には似つかわしくない、悲しい物語があります。お見逃しなく。
Soto-shogahata（外庄が畑）
This is the last traffic signal of the route 455, until you arrive at Iwaizumi.
The road winds and the bus climbs up the hill, finally about 250m higher.
この信号を最後に、岩泉町にはいるまで一切信号はありません。
カーブが連続し、２５０ｍを一息に上っていきます。

At the left hand you can see the herd of cattle, Tankaku 👀 -gyu.
Gandoko（岩洞湖）
Lake Gando 👀 is a must see man-made lake that changes its beauty in each season.
岩洞湖は時間や季節とともにその美しさを変えるビュースポットです。
新緑に包まれる5月、紅葉の美しい秋、湖面から立ち上る朝霧、夕日に映える水面も美しく、冬は氷上ワカサギ釣りでにぎわいます。
Machimura（町村）
Just enjoy the straight part of this route, the only spot without curves.
This area has a record of the coldest temperature on Honshu Island.
At 680m above sea level, the record was -35°C (-31F) on Jan 26, 1945.
After the 2nd World War, settlers developed the land, but some have already left because of severe weather conditions.
Hayasaka-Tunnel

Started in 1988, the tunnel finished construction in 2017.
It helped people, especially in winter, to commute beween Iwaizumi and Morioka.
カーブの続く道中、わずかな直線部分です。
１９４５年１月２６日、本州でマイナス３５℃の最低気温を記録しました。
第二次世界大戦後、入植者が開拓しましたが、厳しい気候条件に耐えられず、この地を去る人たちもいました。
早坂トンネル：１９８８年着工、２０１７年完成。トンネル開通前は盛岡－岩泉間の道路は、早坂峠を越えるヘアピンカーブ続きのルートでした。このトンネルの開通で、冬場の危険な通行から解放され、県都へのアクセスが格段に改善しました。
トンネルを抜けると、そこは岩泉町。
Mitakai-Bunko（三田貝分校）

Mitakai-bunko used to be a branch school for the Mitakai area. The unique building is school-like, equipped with a multi-purpose toilet and AED.

Hikage（日陰）
After the Hikage bus stop, you can see the mountain in front of you.
It is the "Mount Ureira", the symbol of Iwaizumi.
こちらのカーブを過ぎると、眼前に山肌が見えてきます。
これが町のシンボル「宇霊羅山」です。
アイヌ語で「霧のかかる峰」という意味だそうです。
目的地まであと少し。
Iwaizumi-Kamimachi（岩泉上町）
Here we are at the Iwaizum-Kamimachi bus stop.
You must be tired after such a long trip.
